Nike marks the 25th anniversary of its iconic basketball shoe, Air Force 1, with a fortnight-long exhibition that kicked off with an exclusive, celebrity-studded party at Bond, Avenue K, Malaysia.

The exhibition features over 80 pairs of of Air Force 1s from over the years, and will be open to the public from January 26 to 28. The 2007 releases will continue to be displayed until February 17, at the Bond Martini Bar at Avenue K, every day except Sunday, from 12.00 pm to 9.00pm.

“Twenty-five years ago Nike changed basketball with Air Force 1, the most innovative performance shoe of its time, incorporating Nike Air cushioning technology. It has since evolved from a sports innovation into a cultural icon, transcending sport, music and culture,” said Glenn Heng, Country Marketing Manager of Nike Malaysia.

“Through the public exhibition, people will get a chance to learn about the unique heritage of Air Force 1 and the basketball legends who have personified the Force. This is the first time so many sought-after classics from Air Force 1's illustrious past will be on display in Malaysia.”

At the launch party, Nike also introduced the latest collection of Air Force 1 footwear as part of the exhibition, including the Old Six Signature Air Force 1’s and the New Six Signature Air Force 1’s.

from Malaysia and Singapore, put together by streething.com’s founder, Chooee Hwang.

The night was capped off with special performances by Point Blanc and Joe Flizzow, one-half of the prominent Too Phat. Both artistes took to the stage to perform original tracks that were written in tribute to Air Force 1, demonstrating the iconic shoe's enduring ties with hip hop culture.
