Streething x Pr3duce (Bangkok) Interview

Pr3duce, the first Nike SB account holder in Thailand, is located at the hustling bustling street of Siam Square in Bangkok. They just launched their first Nike SB - SBTG Dunk SB and almost 200 people showed up for the queue which is the first in Thailand. kzzit caught up with Nung (co-owner of Pr3duce) for good Thai food and great chat.

Sawadee Krup Nung, it's great pleasure to meet you and can you introuduce yourself to us?

Sawadee Krup, my name is Rhit "Nung" Phannikul, people call me Nung which is my nick and it means number one in Thai. I am the co-owner for the latest Skate shop in Bangkok called Preduce.

Tell me mor about Preduce, why Preduce and what does it mean anyway?

Well, if you pronounce Preduce in Thai, it actually means "SMOOTH" which is very important style in skateboarding. So when we started our shop, we were fooling around with names and we just thought Preduce is a good name for it.

How tough is it to start at skate community in Thailand?

It's tough as we do not have many proper skateparks and we are always being fined for skating in the park or near the open space but we still do what we believe in. Skating is always a rebellious sports here so the market is not as big as other countries like Malaysia and Singapore but we hope we will get there soon.

(^This is how you supposed to rock your SBTG, skate in them! )

Good to know, SBTG Dunk SB was your first Dunk SB release and the hype shoes ever came to Thailand, how crazy was it?

The kids started coming on the night before and some came really early in the morning. This is first time ever in Thailand where people really queued for sneakers. There were more than 200 people who showed up! I have received phone calls everyday about SBTG Dunk SB and I would love to tell everyone "THEY ARE SOLD OUT!"

It's good to see Bangkok is getting more heat and the local brands are also stepping it up. I see that Pr3duce have got some good looking tees too.

Yeah, we have made some Pr3duce tees. Currently we have 10 designs and there will be more coming in the near future. We just released our first Skate Video to promote our team and skate scene in Thailand. It took us over two years of filming and traveling to make this video possible.

Nice, can you tell us more about Pr3duce Team? Who are they?

Well, they are Ryan Sripaesatja, Kyle Brown, Rhit Phannikul, M Nuttapon, Simon Pelleaux, Rong Tangpong, Tao Kitpullap, Geng Jakkarin and Lert Saeri. They come from all over Thailand for one reason - skateboarding. We became very very good friends along the way.

I see lots of customized decks on the wall in your shop, what are those for?

Well we intend to make Pr3duce an art gallery to promote skate art to the local community. Every 2 months, we will have different artists coming to exhibit their work. Hoping it will promote skating and art to the local community.

That is such a good idea to promote the scene here. Thanks a lot for the good meal and good conversation, it's always heartwarming to dine with good people. Take care.

My pleasure. Please visit us again soon :)
